Mass inoculation of people aged over 70 continued at many healthcare centres across the country. The process is also underway at the healthcare centre in Kombinat, Tirana municipality, recently rehabilitated under the government’s programme on reconstruction of 300 healthcare facilities across the country.
“The vaccine rollout has started in this healthcare centre too. Based on the information from all over the country, the process has progressed normally and I am confident we will fulfil the target,” said the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu, who accompanied Prime Minister Edi Rama during a visit to the polyclinic in Kombinat, where the elderly are receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“What we need to do is to extend the working hours, even in three-shift work if necessary, so that the vaccination process speeds up and the elderly do not wait in queue,” the Premier said.

The post-earthquake Reconstruction Programme also entails rehabilitation of many health institutions that sustained severe damages due to the devastating earthquake on November 26, 2019. One of these institutions is the Development and Rehabilitation Centre for children with special abilities, which is being reconstructed according to the best standards.
“The restoration of the Development and Rehabilitation Centre for children with special abilities in Kombinat area is one of the most important investment projects. The restoration is underway as the building sustained serious damages with work now focusing on reinforcement of the structure and its foundations. We have also designed a project that will significantly improve the services provided to children with disabilities here,” Health Minister Manastirliu said, adding that the facility will also offer daily hospital service with a capacity of 30 beds.
Health Minister said that the rehabilitation project is scheduled to complete in October and provision of the multidisciplinary and social services will start immediately.
