A total of 100,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered since the start of the process, while 1100 vaccinators deployed in cities and villages across the country are speeding up the process with the launch of the mass inoculation drive last Sunday. The updated figures were provided by the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu as she accompanied the Prime Minister Edi Rama while touring the vaccination site in the town of Kurbin, where more than 600 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered on the second day of the mass immunisation programme.

“More than 30,000 older adults have received the coronavirus shot in the first two days of the mass inoculation. The process continues and is being accelerated at the health care centres and the vaccination sites in cities and villages all over the country. We are progressing really well. The total number of administered vaccines, including the second doses, is estimated at 100,000 doses since the start of the immunisation process. The process is taking place not only in concentrated vaccine sites, but in all cities and villages throughout the country. All the elderly, especially the seniors over 85, are receiving the vaccines at healthcare centres close to their residence, and some of the frail and ailing old people are also receiving the jab at home,” Health Minister Manastirliu said, adding that employment of a team of 1100 vaccinators to conduct the process throughout the country and fulfil the vaccination target and even exceed it shows we have the capacities and resources to carry out a quick and effective vaccine rollout.

Progress of the process and provision of the vaccines show an optimistic scenario regarding the vaccination goal. “With the vaccine supplies secured, the number of administered doses increased to 20,000 yesterday alone. This is only the beginning,” PM Rama said, adding that the team of vaccinators can administer 30,000 doses a day. “This means we will be able to administer the first dose faster than projected and complete the mass vaccination for all vulnerable and high-risked categories soon,” the Premier added.
