From a small business operator working in minimalist conditions with meagre earnings to provide for the family only, thanks to the government aid, Dhurata Maloku has been able not just to expand its business activity, but also gain access to a broader market for its chicken meat and supply the biggest restaurants operating in the town of Fushe Krujë and the surrounding areas.

Maloku family that started its household business back in 2011 applied for financial support to build a chicken farm, benefiting an amount of 5.1 million lek from the Agricultural and Rural Development Programme, which helped the family to make an investment that has significantly improved the work processes and has enhanced production capacities.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the business, saying this is another example of how the national scheme has come to the ordinary people aid to provide financial support to build their own business and be successful.

“We want to show such examples as we want other people to see for themselves that these things are for real, completely possible for every ordinary people, because you have achieved everything through hard work, neither by the support of influential friends nor by political parties,” PM Rama said.

The businessman himself said it was precisely the government assistance that help his household business to grow, adding that he plans to further expand his business activity in the future.

“We filed an application with the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (ARDA) and we were awarded the grant. We are very pleased with it. We hope to further expand our activity with the government assistance and employ more people, not only the eight workers we have employed to date. Previously we used primitive production methods,” the businessman said.

The main objective of the Government of Albania is to encourage small entrepreneurs in rural areas to meet national and EU standards and increase production.
