Sami Frasheri high school in Tirana, one of the most renowned education institutions over the years, will soon become an architectural added value for Tirana soon thanks to the ongoing reconstruction and transformation project designed to turn it not only into a centre for learning, acquisition of knowledge, skills and values, but also into an innovative facility in terms of infrastructure.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited today the site where work to construct the new school continues around the clock.

To reach the construction site, the Premier walked along “the Zog I” boulevard, a recently rehabilitated space under a requalification project that has helped to increase the value of business premises and properties in the area.

“A price skyrocketing has taken place along Zog I boulevard. Every shop and apartment, even cellars and second-hand spaces, have been all sold. Real estate companies have reported that they have registered an increase in rent and property prices by around 70 to 80% just a month after the project completion. Entire Tirana’s downtown will be surrounded by five-star hotels,” Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj said, adding that the new spaces have provided more breath to the city and have significantly improved the citizens’ communication.

In the meantime, construction of the underground floor of the new school has already completed. The underground floor will house a number of school labs, whereas the classrooms and other education venues designed to meet contemporary standards will be built on upper floors. The gym and sport grounds will cover a twice as much space compared to the old school building.

Sami Frashëri high school has 1400 students and, once complete, it is set to be the largest education facility in the country.
