An exhibition of artist Marc Chagall entitled ‘’Chagall: a magical gravity’’ opened its doors to the public in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama and many European friends at the Centre for Openness and Dialogue (COD).
In his welcoming remarks, Prime Minister Edi Rama praised the exhibition’s curators for their successful efforts to exhibit Marc Chagall’s works for the first time in Albania. “It is inspiring and at the same time I think it is very impressive to have such a collection of these masterpieces exhibited in this country, in Tirana, Albania,” PM Rama said.
Addressing the participating artists, politicians and European ambassadors in Tirana, the government head, highlighting the Marc Chagall’s difficulties, for whom “it was not easy at all, since it was difficult to be loved even though he devoted his life to love and strongly believed that love is the essence of harmony in art and everywhere,” made an analogy with Albania’s efforts on its path towards integration: “We will insist and finally love will prevail.”
The Prime Minister described the exhibition as a stunning experience that should not be missed by Albania’s art lovers and artists.
“The Magical Gravity” exhibition displays for first time ever in Albania a collection of more than 180 engravings and graphics selected from his most well-known cycles of book designs, Gogol’s Dead Souls, Shakespeare’s The Tempest, and La Fontaine’s Fables. The exhibition will run from Oct. 19 until Jan. 12, 2019 and it will be open to the public seven days a week and anyone who wishes and is interested in his works can visit the exhibition for free.
