Educational infrastructures, transformed according to the best European school models, have already become a reality in cities across the country. This process continues with new investments currently in various stages of development.
The 9-year school “Angela Merkel” in Kamza is one of the schools in this area that, in the upcoming school season in September, will be fully transformed and offered to students and teachers as a facility with optimal conditions to support a high-quality learning process.
Prime Minister Rama visited Kamza today, accompanied by the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, and the Mayor of Kamza, Rakip Suli, to check the progress of the work on one of the best projects being implemented.
The new school will accommodate 1,300 students and will feature 38 spacious classrooms, 10 laboratories, a library, sports fields, and recreational areas. It is also designed to serve as a social hub for the community.
The school is located 800 meters from the city center and consists of five levels: one underground and four above ground. Additionally, a pedestrian overpass, 60 meters from the school, ensures safe passage for students.
“This is the 19th school built in the municipality of Kamza over the last four years. In total, there are 40 educational facilities, including kindergartens, nurseries, and schools, covering a total building area of 10,200 square meters. For 1,300 students, this will be an extraordinary opportunity, as we have discussed. Kamza has 20,000 students from first to twelfth grade, and we believe this is the most important and right investment in the municipality of Kamza, thanks to the outstanding support from the government,” said Rakip Suli, Mayor of Kamza.
The school is an investment by the German government for reconstruction, as explained by Dritan Agolli, Director of the Albanian Development Fund. “The total cost is 10 million euros, with an additional 2 million, bringing the total to 12 million euros. From a technological perspective, in addition to being fully energy-efficient, it will also have solar panels. The entire air conditioning system is automated to improve efficiency and optimize heating and cooling throughout the school,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu expressed that the school meets the highest European standards, both in terms of the services it will provide and the quality of its facilities.
Prime Minister Edi Rama praised the project as one of the best in this regard. “Very beautiful! This is a project that should be the pride of your architectural studio. These are schools that you won’t find even in Paris because they were built from scratch and are not old. These are spectacular schools. Kamza is a spectacular model, as is Tirana, but in Kamza, it was unexpected. In Tirana, it was expected. Kamza is the surprise of the entire Renaissance,” said the Prime Minister.
The new school adds to the chain of 18 schools that have been rebuilt and renovated in this municipality, all meeting European standards, thus expanding the capacity for the Kamza community and surrounding areas.
