The Prime Minister Edi Rama’s visit to The Hague was great news for Albania’s morale and perspective.

Albania and the Netherlands will come up with a joint proposal on how the idea of the President of France for the New European Political Community should be rephrased in the field of real European life.

This is a new idea to generate fresh European energy and power without replacing or bypassing the European Union enlargement process.

While the idea of the Albanian-Dutch proposal was born precisely during The Hague visit, where after highly appreciating Albania’s work and accomplishments, as well as our critical contribution to the European Council summit, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte asked me to jointly put it on paper, as two friendly countries, one at the very roots of the EU, the other yet to join the EU, a common point of view on how the idea of the new European political community should be shaped.

This was an unimaginable moment for Albania until a few years ago in the international political arena and beyond, as well as a touching expression for Albania and for Albanians.

We will work with Prime Minister Rutte and our teams to encourage a constructive and productive debate about Europe for all Europeans at the large Summit on this topic, due to be held in Prague next October, where we will also table our proposal.
