Prime Minister Edi Rama at Parliament’s session to dismiss President:
Meta has betrayed the mission of the President of the Republic of Albania.
Ilir Meta has humiliated the Constitution of the Republic of Albania.
Ilir Meta has demolished the institution of the guarantor of national unity.
Ilir Meta has violated the vital border of the separation of powers and our parliamentary democracy.
Ilir Meta has shamed Albania and our Albanian people in the very special relationship with the United States of America
Ilir Meta has distorted the face of the Albanian state in the relationship with the international democratic communities in Albania.
Ilir Meta has totally and ultimately lost the chances so generously he has been granted, repeatedly, to return back to the rails of moral and legal reason.
Albania can no longer have Ilir Meta riding roughshod over it, becoming ridiculous in the eyes of Albania’s friends and in the eyes of its citizens. Therefore, this parliament will in an unhesitant way exercise the will of over 90% of Albanian people to dismiss Ilir Meta from office. We are sorry for our former friend Ilir, but today’s Meta can never have the high status given to him by parliament
Ilir Meta is done with the role he was given by parliament and the words about him as President are over.
Let the parliament now speak through vote.
