Prime Minister Edi Rama received today the Minister of State for Europe of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, David Lidington, who is in Tirana on a working visit.
Parties at the meeting praised the level of cooperation between two countries and expressed their commitment to further strengthening such cooperation not only at technical level but also in a series of priority areas for Albania, particularly in strengthening the rule of law.
The meeting focused on Albania’s European prospects. Prime Minister Edi Rama provided Minister Lidington with an overview of the reforms stressing that although Albania was not granted the candidate country status in December, the Albanian Government remains determined to meeting all the priorities required by the process.
Minister Lidington strongly commended the approach taken by PM Edi Rama. In addition to praising the work the Albanian Government has done so far and the reforms undertaken, Minister Lidington voiced the support of the United Kingdom to Albania’s EU integration process.
Accompanying the UK minister of State for Europe David Lidington in this meeting was Nicholas Cannon, the British ambassador in Tirana.
