A total of 120 construction sites have been opened across Albania to build new water supply networks designed to ensure 24-hour water to residents in all urban centres within 2022, Prime Minister Edi Rama said during a visit to the town of Memaliaj, where is underway to construct a new water supply system.
A new 32-km main network will provide constant quality water to local residents in Memaliaj. “This is another construction project that will extend further to rural areas. I avail myself of this opportunity to tell everyone else that the 24-hour water supply plan is not an electoral programme, but an action plan being implemented for years now, ensuring 24-hour water to inhabitants in a considerable number of municipalities across the country, just like it is the case here in Memaliaj. The programme will then expand to include the rural areas once funding is provided and contracts are signed. As many as 120 construction sites have been launched throughout the territory of the Republic of Albania to build new water supply networks,” PM Rama said.
In the meantime, the whole 45-km long internal distribution network in all villages, Memaliaj municipality, will be built from scratch.
