Livestock and dairy farm “Tris Alb”, one of model farms in Albania, is expanding its production capacities to over 6.5 tons of milk a day thanks to the support from the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency. Prime Minister Edi Rama visited farm venues accompanied by the Director General of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (ARDA), Frida Krifca, and the Mayor of the city of Fier, Armando Subashi.
“We are visiting one of the biggest cattle farm in Albania with over 470 cows. We have assisted this farm through the national support scheme to build a third cowshed as part of the owner’s plans to expand his farm’s production capacities,” ARDA Director Frida Krifca said.
This farm cooperates with around 300 local farmers for the forage, having an important impact on the area. The fresh investments in this farm aim at increasing productivity, standards and competition in order to gain access to the European Union market.
“As Albanians say, appetite comes with eating. We have around 470 cows in our farm, and 230 of them are currently in milk. With construction of new cowshed, we plan to increase number of cows to 650- 700,” the entrepreneur said.
With 25 permanent employees and dozens of seasonal workers, Tris Alb plans to modernize the modernize the work processes and facilities of the livestock complex, increasing at the same time the number of permanent employees. The Premier praised the work done on this farm, saying this is the model that should be followed by other farmers throughout the country.
“We will do whatever it takes to provide government support, since it is not just the problem of supporting individuals, or enterprises that create such an added value and a closed cycle, but it is all about the example and the models that others should also learn in order not to wait for the government’s help only. Farmers should join forces and by uniting they would build another relationship. There is no other option and that’s why we are very keen to support these models. You have built an exemplary model and we are grateful for that,” Prime Minister Rama said.
