Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Greenhouses reconstructed with European standards, according to the most advanced technology and resistant to storms and flooding. These will be the new greenhouses in the area of Frakulle, in Fier, which will be funded by a USAID project in cooperation with the Albanian government. Prime Minister Rama was today in the village Kafaraj in the Municipality of Frakull, where work will begin for the installation of this new model of greenhouses. These will not only ensure higher productivity in manufacturing, but also will afford unsuitable weather conditions.

Minister of Agriculture Panariti, who was accompanying the Prime Minister on this visit, said that in addition to rebuilding the damaged greenhouses, intervention will be made in the river embankment to prevent that Vjosa overflows. “We are here in Kafaraj, in a greenhouse that has been severely damaged by the floods. There are approximately 4 acres. We are here to start a very ambitious project for the rebuilding of this greenhouse which, instead of the old technology with plastic and very delicate constructions, will be built with a brand new typology, much more advanced, more resistant to storms and flooding. At the same time, in order to avoid flooding, we will intervene in the river embankment to prevent that the river Vjose overflows. So, we will make a combined intervention, restoring the damaged facilities and preventing of course other river floods. We will install a new model of greenhouses typology, which will ensure the highest performance, being at the same time more resistant to flooding. We will start with these 4 acres and we commit that all this area will change the typology of greenhouses, according to an advanced and more efficient and resistant system.”

Such a greenhouse will initially be built in the family of a local farmer, Xhemil Hamataj, whose products were completely destroyed by the floods. “We are speechless. As you can see, I had a colossal damage, but I thank you for your support “- he said when he met the Prime Minister.

In a conversation with the people who will benefit from this support, Prime Minister assured that all greenhouses damaged by floods will be rebuilt, with a much higher quality than the existing ones. The Prime Minister assured that the farmers will have back everything they lost, even more modern than before. “We made a clear commitment when these people were affected by the disaster, and we are here to keep this commitment. All greenhouses damaged by the floods will be rebuilt with a project that will be implemented through the best expertise and funding, so that the greenhouses will have higher standards than the existing ones. So, the farmers of this area, working people, people of sacrifice, people affected by a natural disaster will have back thanks to this support, not only what they lost but also the opportunity to have a much more modern production infrastructure than it was before the flood. This was our commitment and here we are. This is us. We say what we do and do what we say”.
