Prime Minister Edi Rama met with the women’s local volleyball team and member of the ping-pong club at the Sports Hall in Permet as part of his tour to the southern Albanian town today.
Basketball and volleyball teams, three boys’ teams and three girls’ teams respectively, have been founded in the municipality of Permet as part of the National Sports in Schools Programme.
The example already set with the basketball and volleyball teams will further expand to include football, with local government committed to providing the infrastructure and the material basis.
“We have actually identified basketball and volleyball as two main sport disciplines included in our programme. But other municipalities can decide which sports discipline to support. One can support ping-pong, as well as weightlifting,” PM Rama said.
Local ping-pong club in Përmet won the Balkan championship under 15.
