Tests were conducted on the samples of 212 suspected individuals, out of which 10 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours, with 9 fresh cases detected in Tirana, mostly family contacts of previously confirmed Covid-19 patients, and one new case identified in Shkodra.
So far, tests have been conducted on 7491 suspected cases and 736 of them have tested positive for the Covid-19 infection.
Twelve more patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of people who have recovered after having contracted the novel coronavirus in Albania to 422, or 57.3% of the infected people.
Currently, 286 people, or 42.7 percent of the infected individuals, are active cases in Albania and data show that the percentage of those who have recovered has overtaken the number of the active cases and such trend remains unchanged.
A 73-year-old patient from Durres died of the complications at University Hospital “Shefqet Ndroqi” this evening after being intubated for 24 days, bringing the total number of the novel coronavirus-related deaths in Albania to 29.
Out of a total 29 patients currently being treated at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, seven are under intensive care and one of them intubated.
Out of five patients being treated at the COVID 2 Hospital, two are at intensive care unit, one intubated.
A total of 34 patients are currently being treated at both hospitals.
The number of new Covid-19 infections has further increased in Tirana and Shkodra.
