A newly-built school building has most recently opened doors to its pupils and teachers in the coastal city of Durres.  “Hasan Koçi” nine-year school has been designed to meet contemporary European standards for habitability and environmental comfort and provide spaces for optimum education as a model for transformation of the educational facilities in the country.

Normal learning process has resumed in the new school building and high priority has been attached to the health and welfare of pupils and teachers over these difficult days. Prime Minister Edi Rama today visited the “Hasan Koçi” nine-year school.

“It is one of the most beautiful and safest schools rebuilt as part of the post-earthquake reconstruction process. Two old school buildings used to stand here prior to the earthquake. The new school has 18 classrooms, four labs and all supporting premises, including the indoor gym,” the Reconstruction Minister Arben Ahmetaj said.

The spacious facilities are what strikes the eye first, especially the sport grounds, allowing pupils to move freely and enjoy abundant space both for the learning process and various activities.

“Education conditions meet best contemporary standards. Rest places and benches will be installed in the schoolyard. In the meantime, special facilities, including toilets, are adapted for children with different abilities according to all standards,” Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako said.

The government head visited several classrooms, where learning process was underway, as well as the gym and other sport grounds. Extending best wishes to students and teachers, PM Rama encouraged them for best performance and maximum commitment to learning and teaching process.
