Albania and North Macedonia signed a series of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding as part of today’s joint session between the governments of both countries to strengthen and boost cooperation on the areas of European integration, defence and security, economy, education, culture and digital technology.

The Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama and the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovacevski attended the signing ceremony.

The following are the agreements signed by the government of the Republic of Albania and the government of the Republic of North Macedonia after their joint session on Monday in Skopje: 

– Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia for cooperation in digitization of consular services.

 -Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia for cooperation in areas of diplomatic training.

-Memorandum of cooperation on EU integration affairs between the Secretariat for European Affairs of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Minister of State, the Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Albania.

– Protocol between the Ministry of Finance and Economy – General Directorate of Customs of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Finance and Economy – Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia, on implementation of the Agreement on mutual recognition of Authorised Economic Operator Security and Safety (AEOS) between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia.

-Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on the area of Public Finance and the European Union Accession process, between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of North Macedonia.

 -Protocol between the Ministry of Finance – the Customs Administration of North Macedonia, and the Ministry of Finance and Economy – General Directorate of Customs of the Republic of Albania on implementation of the agreement between the government of North Macedonia and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania on opening the joint border crossing point between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of North Macedonia, signed on 10.06.2021 in Tirana on the Qafë-Thanë international border crossing point.

– Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia on creation of joint security task forces.

–Protocol between the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of North Macedonia on implementation of joint border control at the Qafë-Thane/Kjafasan joint border crossing point.

– Memorandum of Understanding on defence cooperation between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of North Macedonia.

– Cooperation agreement between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of North Macedonia for the return of illegally exported icons from the country of origin.

– The Cooperation Programme between the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia  between 2022 and 2025.

– Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic on proofreading and Albanian language editing.

– Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Political System and Inter-Community Relations of the Republic of North Macedonia, on implementation of the Albanian sign language.

– Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of North Macedonia on digital technology transformation.

– Memorandum on energy sector cooperation between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of North Macedonia.

– Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia on the international cross-border delegation of air traffic services in a part of the airspace over Lake Ohrid.

– Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia for the development of the cross-border road connectivity between the two countries.

– Memorandum on social policies and child protection agreement between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the Republic of North Macedonia.

– The health cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of North Macedonia.

– Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Ministry of State for Enterprise Protection of the Republic of Albania.
