Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Riza Tafa’s family in the village of Zall Herr, Tirana Municipality, has left behind the life’s hardship and the difficult times following the devastating earthquake as it started a whole new life after moving into a newly-built and furnished family home. Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Mayor of Tirana Erjon Veliaj were the guests of Tafa family who lost its private home due to the earthquake and its members were sheltered in tents pitched in the house courtyard. Today, the family head and children acknowledge that their new home is clearly much better than their old property.

“Thank you very much for whatever you have done for us,” was the message of gratitude that Riza extended to everyone and to those who stood by him and his family immediately after the natural calamity, wishing at the same time that a solution is found for every quake-affected family as soon as possible.

On his part, Prime Minister Rama underlined that utmost efforts are underway to do whatever it takes in order to make sure that every family who lost homes due to the major earthquake in the areas outside the city move into new and much better houses within this year. “We are designing the rebuilding plans as quickly as possible, in order to build not merely a house, but decent and much better houses than the old ones they used to have prior to the earthquake. We will do whatever it takes to build them as soon as possible. We are seeking to complete construction of the private homes for the affected families this year and we will provide everyone with more decent housing conditions.”
