Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Enver Dedej and his family moved into their newly-built home in the village of Dedej, Vora municipality, today. On the site of the ruins of the earthquake-ravaged old house due to the Sept 21 earthquake, a cosy and much spacious new house than the one the family lost due to the tremors leaving them under open sky.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, together with the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku, were the guests at the Dedej family’s new home today. There are many other dwellings in the area where the house is located, but Minister Balluku said the lack of labour force has become a problem. “We faced the lack of workers. There are many unemployed people, who refuse to involve in the processes. Even the company that is engaged in the rebuilding process has sought to hire local workers from the area, but they have refused to get involved. It’s a little difficult and that’s why it has taken a while. The house owner has worked night and day together with workers to complete building process as soon as possible,” she said.

The Premier noted this is the cumulative effect of the long years when vocational education was ignored and many universities just produced fake diplomas. “Everyone was enrolled in universities and everyone became a lawyer, whereas the vocational education schools were closed. This is a serious problem, because everyone was cheated and fooled by those useless diplomas issued by useless universities in the past.”

Speaking about the rebuilding process, PM Rama stated that much better homes than the quake-damaged ones will be rebuilt.
