On December 13, 2022, Mr Ilir Beqaj, the Director-General State Agency for Strategic Programming and Assistance Coordination (SASPAC), and Mrs Heike Backofen-Warnecke, Deputy Head of Division South-East Europe, Southern Caucasus at Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, signed Albania-Germany Cooperation Protocol.
The bilateral negotiations mediated by the Minister of Finance and Economy Mrs. Delina Ibrahimaj, resulted in a financial commitment of the Federal Government in the amount of EUR 74.3 million for the next two years (2023-2024) in the field of bilateral financial and technical cooperation.
Germany commended Albanian government for its readiness to press ahead and deliver on reforms and pledged to continue its technical and financial assistance for these reform efforts – especially in climate, energy sector, sustainable economic development, vocational education and employment.
Albania and Germany reiterated their shared conviction that inter-regional and regional cooperation in the Western Balkans is essential to the efforts to tackle common cross-border challenges such as migration, organized crime, environmental pollution, climate change and infrastructural development.
