More than 10,000 citizens have received the COVID-19 vaccine doses in the south-eastern region of Korça. With the mass inoculation campaign continuing apace at the vaccination sites in urban centres and health care centres in rural areas throughout the country, more vaccine shipments are being delivered to Albania.

“More than 150,000 seniors have received the jab so far, while a total of 206,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccines have been administered to people across the country,” Health Minister said as she accompanied Prime Minister Edi Rama during a visit to the vaccination site in Korçe, where as many as 300 older people are expected to receive the vaccine today.

“You should be careful until antibodies are created,” the government head advised the older adults who received the first dose of the vaccine.

The vaccine rollout for the State Police officers is also well underway throughout the country.

“A delivery of Pfizer vaccines arrived a day ago, whereas another batch of 22,230 doses is expected to arrive by April 20 and more shipments of vaccines will be delivered under the contract with pharmaceutical company Pfizer,” Health Minister Manastirliu said.

The vaccination eligibility will further expand to include people 65 years old and patients with chronic diseases.
