Bubq is yet another new residential complex increasingly taking its final shape and where the quake-affected families will soon restart a new life, with their homes built back larger, more resilient and more beautiful than the ones they lost in the devastating earthquake on November 2019.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of State for Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj, and the Director of the Albanian Development Fund, visited the village of Bubq to closely inspect progress of the work to construct the single-family homes and apartment units for the quake-affected families there. “The construction work has begun on all homes and the infrastructure has already taken shape. Around 80% of the civil infrastructure has completed,” the Head of the Albanian Development Fund Dritan Agolli said.
Construction of the road and underground infrastructure has also completed and construction of seven apartment buildings, the school and the new administrative centre has also commenced along with the work to construct the single-family homes.
Reconstruction Minister Arben Ahmetaj, while walking along the road infrastructure leading to this new residential complex, said that “78 single-family homes and 7 apartment buildings with more than 45 housing units are being built. Entire new urban centre is taking shape. The new school will soon welcome back more than 300 pupils and the facility is designed to meet highest contemporary standards. The new urban development will become totally obvious and tangible to everyone in the next two months.”

PM Rama also stopped over in Fushe Kruje, where one of the most beautiful residential complexes in Albania is being built under the post-earthquake reconstruction programme and is gradually taking its final shape, as work is in full steam ahead to construct a total of 128 single-family homes, due to complete in two months’ time, and 15 apartment buildings, due to complete by fall.
The new housing units will soon be handed over to the families that lost their dwellings in the devastating earthquake.
“We are at the construction site in Fushe Kruje, where the residential complex features two parts, namely a neighbourhood with single-family homes, and apartment building. The 120-unit apartment complex is divided into four multi-family homes. Construction of the 128 single-family homes is nearing its completion. Construction of the apartment buildings is scheduled to complete by August and September, whereas construction of the single family homes is expected to complete within a month. In the meantime, 95% of the public infrastructure has completed,” Ahmetaj said.
One of the most beautiful residential complexes in Albania is taking shape in Fushe-Kruje, and the Prime Minister Rama likened it with the residential neighbourhoods, but not for the wealthy people.
Reconstruction Minister Ahmetaj informed that confirmation has been received from the Abu Dhabi fund about the first contract on the Spitalle complex project and the agreement is set to be signed this week. The site preparation and infrastructure work is already underway there and construction of the first group of apartment complex will begin soon. “I have been officially informed that they are mulling plans to build the first apartment complex also inside the city of Durres. The final solution will be provided this week regarding the commercial units due to be housed in the buildings’ ground floor. Given the current progress of the construction process, I can openly state that scars from the November 26 earthquake will completely go away between spring 2021 and early 2022, except for the memory and the reconstruction with the concept to built back better and more beautiful.”
