Mr. Taulant Balla was born on 12 August 1977. Since July 2024 he serves as Minister of State for Relations with Parliament.
Before assuming this task, Mr. Balla served as Minister of Interior from July 2023 to July 2024.
Since 2017, he has covered the positions of Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party and Co-Chairman of the EU-Albania Stabilization Association Parliamentary Committee.
Mr. Balla completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Department of Political Sciences at the “Al.I.Cuza” University in Iasi, Romania, and later completed a Doctorate Degree with a dissertation thesis entitled “The Reform of Decision-Making System in the European Union,” for which he received the rating Magna Cum Laude. Mr. Balla has been involved in a series of research experiences in several university centers in Konstanz, London, Paris, and Washington.
In 2002, he joined the Socialist Party’s Department for International Relations. Mr. Balla has been part of the political staff as an advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Integration, the Minister of Finance and later member of the political staff of the Prime Minister of Albania. In October 2017, he was elected Secretary General of the Socialist Party, a political position he kept until September 2021.
Balla was elected member of the Assembly of Albania in the parliamentary elections in 2005, representing the constituents in the Municipality of Librazhd, Elbasan district.
