Pirro Vengu

Pirro Vengu was born on April 24th, 1986 in Elbasan. He serves as Minister of Defense since July 2024.

Before assuming this position, Mr. Vengu served as General Executive Director of the Durrës Port Authority from 2019.

From 2017 to 2019, he held the position of Anti-Corruption Director in the Prime Minister’s Office.

From 2013 to 2017, Mr. Vengu was the Head of the Cabinet at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previously, from 2010-2013, Mr. Vengu served as Coordinator of Research Programs for European Council on Foreign Relations in Paris, France.

In 2009 – 2010 he worked as an Assistant of Programs, European Council on Foreign Relations in Paris.

Mr. Vengu completed his secondary education in Humanities, near Lycée Henri IV and in 2008 obtained a double Bachelor’s Degree in History and Philosophy from the University Paris Nanterre, in France.

In 2010, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Political History from the University of Paris Nanterre, and in 2011, he obtained a second Master’s Degree in International Relations from the Institut National des Langues et Civilizations Orientales, in Paris, France.

Mr. Vengu is married and has two children.
