“The Knowledge Hub” is the new university campus that will be added to Korçë’s educational institutions and beyond. Covering an area of 8,500 square meters, it is designed as a space that bridges knowledge with practical experience. This project will elevate higher education in the city to a new level, making it more competitive through new internationalization programs and the establishment of scientific research centers.

During his visit to Korçë, Prime Minister Rama stopped at the construction site where work is underway on the new building. The facility will offer modern infrastructure with ample space for lecture halls, laboratories, a library, offices, and meeting rooms, ready to welcome students from Albania and the wider region.

‘’Here we are at the construction site of the Knowledge Hub, one of the innovative projects being implemented by the Albanian Development Fund, in cooperation with the municipality and the university, to create a centre of knowledge that connects theory with practical application. This project is also linked to three other projects that are being developed in parallel.

The first is the didactic farm — a 36-hectare apple orchard — for which the project has been finalized, and implementation will begin soon. Then there’s the Creative Industry Hub, and the former maternity hospital project, which is already functional and has been transformed into a hotel and youth center. All of these are connected to the Knowledge Hub and will serve as laboratories, where research outcomes and academic knowledge will be put into practice,” explained Dritan Agolli, Director of the Albanian Development Fund. He added that the entire construction covers a total area of 8,500 square meters, and that discussions are ongoing to establish international partnerships that will bring innovation.

“The idea is to create a foundation in collaboration between the Albanian Development Fund, the municipality, and the university. Discussions are underway to identify an international partner who can also bring new perspectives to establish a foundation that will manage this entire project through the joint effort of all these actors,” he said.

While praising the work done so far, Prime Minister Rama said that the integration of these projects could serve as a strong example for other institutions to follow.

“Rector, you’ve been given a great opportunity to take a model step forward — one that others can learn from — because this is truly a space which, by being integrated with the university, brings academic life to the forefront and connects the university directly with the market,” the Prime Minister said, addressing the Rector of the University, who in turn stated that the “Knowledge Hub” has the potential to become a center of excellence.

Additionally, the University has already launched several internationalisation programs in collaboration with the University of Bari.
