Prime Minister Edi Rama and National Coordinator against Corruption Bledar Çuçi had a meeting with heads of independent institutions. Attending this meeting were Chief Prosecutor Llalla, Director of State Information Service Ajazi Lika, Chairwoman of Central Election Commission Lleshi, Inspector-General of High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets and Conflict of Interests, Xhuka, as well as Deputy Chairman of High Council of Justice Çefa. The conversation was focused on strengthening of cooperation bridges between law enforcement institutions and National Coordinator against Corruption.

During his speech, Prime Minister pointed to the importance of establishment of an efficient cooperation to guarantee a consolidated exchange of information and boost punitive steps regarding corruption cases and punishment officials at all levels. Moreover, Government, together with independent institutions, must undertake unified actions to tackle key problems of European agenda aiming to join EU in nearest future.

“A close cooperation between actors is needed, but everyone should respect his independent and constitutional position”, National Coordinator against Corruption Çuçi said. He also highlighted the need for a very good re-structuring of the relation between National Coordinator against Corruption and independent institutions in order to boost efficiency of fight against corruption.

All heads of independent institutions expressed full support for work and objectives of Government and National Coordinator against Corruption. Parties agreed to step up cooperation, as well as undertake a series of concrete steps to prevent and fight corruption in Albania.
