PRIME MINISTER RAMA ATTENDED TODAY THE PUBLIC REPORTING ON THE WORK DONE IN 300 DAYS BY THE MINISTRY OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND YOUTH. MINISTER VELIAJ AND OTHER DIRECTORS OF DEPENDENT AGENCIES PRESENTED THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THESE 300 DAYS, BASED ON THE PRIORITIES OF THE MSWY BUST FOCUSED ALSO ON THE CHALLENGES OF THE FUTURE:
“We are working altogether in order to have a society based on solidarity and equal opportunities for all. Therefore, we have to walk for another mile to reach where we want to be”, – Minister Veliaj said in his speech.
In their report, directors of MSWY and dependent agencies said that in these 300 days a net of modern job offices was created, but foremost their role was conceived as mediators in creating an operational partnership between the job office and job seekers. During this period, The National Employment Fund was set up while the employment promotion fund was tripled.
The largest amount of funds of 18 million dollars was used for the first time for the indemnification of former political prisoners or their heirs, by adopting also the legal changes that give priority to those who are alive.
The MSWY drafted a reform that has been neglected for years: the reform of the pension system, by means of which a new scheme will be built.
Radical changes have occurred also in the Economic aid scheme. Economic aid was suspended for 20.000 abusers who benefited without being entitled, and it was addressed to people in need.
One of the first actions of the MSWY was the implementation of the plan for dealing with children living in the streets and the Roma children.
