Orikum’s electrical substation, which is undergoing a reconstruction process, will provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the Vlora coastal area. Upon completion of the reconstruction in spring, it is expected to improve the quality of the coastal power supply thus putting an end to one of the most sensitive problems, especially during the tourist season, in addition to giving an increased boost and security to the development of tourism.
“It has been envisaged that the whole area will be guaranteed with quality supply without interruption. There will be a total of 6 feeders with 105 cabins that will guarantee long-term power supply. It has been envisaged that the conclusion of the project will meet the deadline at the beginning of March 2018”, the leader of the implementation of the project said.
“This will end the drama of so many years in the Ionian coastline once and for”, Prime Minister Rama said while inspecting the works. “This is the last segment of the gap created since the electrification era. It has been a torture for everybody here, especially during the tourist season”.
This substation, together with the other substation in Himara and the new electric network, which has been renewed completely since the electrification era, will guarantee the electrical infrastructure for the next 5 decades.
“This is also the part that is related to the investment that OSHEE will do with the Italian Cooperation. We will conclude the contract soon, and all the networks in Radhimë, Orikum up to Llogara will be supplied with 20 kV, just as the whole coastal area of Vlora will receive a modern electricity service. Works for the substation have started also in Himara, and the energy network of this whole area will be guaranteed for 40-50 years. Let’s pretend that a new network has been built since the time of electrification”, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri said.
