Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Premier Rama returned today in the farm Resulaj, in the village Ferras of Fier. The family Resulaj recorded over 400 lost cattle after the flooding of last week. The Prime Minister, together with the Minister of Agriculture, the Prefect of Fier and MP Ruçi visited the farm of Nebi Resulaj where over 400 sheep were brought to replace the lost herd. Thanks to this support, this family of farmers can already restore their activity. This, the Prime Minister said, is not only a fulfillment of the commitment made publicly to this family, but also an obligation of the government to people who work.

“I am very happy to see smiling again these boys and their father who I couldn’t meet the other day because he was in hospital, overwhelmed by emotional stress. On the other hand, we came here today for a reason, not just to replace the cattle, one by one, as we promised publicly, as I committed to this family, that every family will have back, one by one, the cattle they lost, but also to convey this fantastic example of this simple family who have built everything by themselves, these boys who do not sit in cafes and, instead of insulting and cursing the darkness, have lit, as mother Teresa said, their candle and have lit that bit of space of their lives. These guys are a great example for all the guys in the rural area that not only those who seek to live by honest work and want to live by the land, agriculture, livestock, do have a chance, but more than that they can have benefits they wouldn’t have from a state salary and neither by working as slaves in emigration. I am grateful to these boys and to all those like them, who are for me and for us, an example of inspiration, encouragement and above all a liability source. This is our obligation to these people. On the other hand, this is the day to say that everyone understands how important it is that a single vote can change things for the better or for the worse, that with that vote you can decide what direction your country will take and who will lead it and the big works of representation”- the Prime Minister said.

The prime minister assured once again that the same as the Resulaj family, every family who has lost their livestock will be compensated for them as well as for damages in production.

“As we said during the heavy rainfall, we will not walk away with the rain. We will be here when the sun comes out, because we have an obligation to repair all damages in livestock and production. We are close to people who want to build their lives and welfare with their hands through decent work. These are the people of Albania that is being reborn and this is the only way it can be reborn, with these people and with people like them.”

Besides answering to questions regarding negotiating with commercial banks for loans to farmers, the Prime Minister announced another initiative by the government to support the recovery of the affected farmers.

“Banks have taken their commitments as we have asked since the beginning. Meanwhile, we are concluding a very important agreement with the Union of Credit Savings and the Besa Foundation, two very important sources of support for farmers, in order to help the recovery of these fantastic people; these people who work humbly day and night and who are for us the real force for the transformation and development of the country. These people comply with the law and do not evade obligations. So, the same as these people meet any obligation, the same they must also receive from the state, for any obligation it has, the right answer, the brotherly answer and the solidarity answer. Thus, each farmer of this country should know that this is their government.”

Nebi Resulaj who, together with his two sons had built through hard work his farm, does not feel lost in this weather disaster. “From the village I come, when somebody has a loss in capital people say: the river took him away. And the river did really take me away, but it couldn’t steal my luck. You were my luck” – he told the Prime Minister.

Nebi’s son, Mentor, a young farmer, cannot hide his astonishment. “I didn’t think that all that flock could be replaced in such a short time. 4 trucks with 480 sheep that are being registered. Thank you for what you have done” – he said.

The Prime Minister joked with a young boy who, during his first visit, was skeptic that he could have back his herd, while now he thanks the Prime Minister and says he admits the defeat “It’s important to admit the defeat with dignity” – the Prime Minister said.

Solidarity, recovery of farms and production activity, support to successful models in the village, this was the message emphasized by the Prime Minister in this visit.
