The newly-built school Kajo Karafili offers a fresh opportunity to the children and high school students in the municipality of Shijak on their beautiful and challenging path towards knowledge. Rebuilt in record time in the wake of the devastating earthquake last November, the new educational facility is designed to be much larger, stronger, safer and more beautiful and provide comfortable and more qualitative spaces for contemporary education and teaching, and meet high European standard for educational institutions and provide spaces for contemporary educational needs.

On a visit to the town of Shijak today afternoon, Prime Minister Edi Rama praised builders for the work to construct the new school, considered as one of the most beautiful school building in architectural terms

“As many as 370 students and kindergarten children attend this school, which has 15 classrooms, a gym and it is one of the most beautiful educational facilities in terms of its architecture and functionality,” the Minister of State for Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj said.

On his part, the Mayor of Shijak Elton Arbana explained that the school also has three physics, chemistry and biology laboratories. “The building covers an area of 3,000 square meters. Construction work took 150 days since day one when the demolition of the previous old building took place. The classrooms have been adapted in compliance with the Ministry of Health guidelines,” Arbana said.

Mayor Arbana said that construction of two more schools in Shijak is expected to complete this week.

The reborn “Kajo Karafili” high school is yet another example of the government’s vision and ambition to turn the Nov 26 tragedy into a fresh start for children, teachers and the community.
